”We must be close.”

“I believe the term is 'BFF.'”

Big battle episode. One with a villain who didn't know how to use the Infinity Stones properly, or else, Ultron would have found a quick way to get rid of his adversaries with a snap of his fingers. Instead, he was only throwing violence and more violence at the Guardians of the Multiverse, all of them defended by our heroes, especially Dr. Strange, who was swallowing everything Ultron gave him (wait... that came out wrong). In a way, this episode didn't have much else to offer. Just a quick team-up, a big fight sequence or two, and then a mid-credits scene that almost promised me there will be a Captain Carter-centric spin-off show in which she is getting her happy end (or the person inside the Hydra Stomper is evil, which means she is going to be in the biggest fight of her life). Having a big battle episode might be fun for some, but for me, it was rather boring, as I don't get much out of superheroes and supervillains punching each other in the noggins. Even more so when the big fight ends with a twist supervillain reveal that should have made absolutely no sense. I guess Killmonger is able to withstand the power of all six stones with his suit, while Iron Man in the main MCU universe was not. Convenient storytelling? Definitely!

The visuals were still great, however. I especially liked the sequence when the Soul Stone was on the ground, and the fight was happening around it, with the camera keeping focus on the stone. It was reminiscent of Baby Groot getting busy with the music while battle was happening all around him in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, VOL. 2, with the difference that the Soul Stone was just an inanimate object and could neither fight nor take care of the music. I also liked the idea of Captain Carter and Natasha being BFFs in their universe. Just a couple of besties punching terrorists into a prison cell, saving the world, and then going out for coffee so that they can gossip about people in accounting. One more reason why there should have been a Captain Carter-centric show. SEX AND THE CITY, but with the women super spies of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Dr. Strange has gotten himself a new playtoy for his microverse.
