”My mom is dead, and I like to fuck, and that's that on that.”
This show is becoming more insufferable with each new death. Lennon turned out to be the villain of her own story before her death; Margot could not be more annoying being the social media influencer who had to go live during the funeral; Dylan is the mystery boy who says he was in love with Allison, but can't even recognize that the dead body is not Allison; and Riley gives pills to her own mother, making me wonder how screwed-up some of the child/parent relationships on this island are – especially when you consider Allison and Bruce and their big secret. This show is filled with insufferable characters I would love seeing knifed by the killer. In a 90-minute slasher horror, the characters would be bearable because I know they would be dead in an hour or less, but in this show, I have to suffer through their behavior and dialogue for multiple episodes. And I'm starting to hate it.
Plus, this show is turning more into a R-rated slasher version of PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, with the OG group getting text messages from the killer, just to haunt their next victims a little more before their untimely (but deserved) deaths. At this point, the writers have removed themselves from the premise of the novel and the duology of films (we don't speak about the direct-to-video offering from 2006), and created their own version of “A” going after teens with deadly secrets, because the genre is apparently not good for more when it comes to adapting it for television.
What a shame that Lennon's body was found, because I loved the idea of Lennon surviving and going after her killers, assuming the role of her twin sister Allison. Margot described her as the villain, so she would have been the perfect killer – already an evil girl whose brain and mind got broken after she was left for dead, and possibly recuperated by weird woman Clara, who apparently had Lennon's dead body all this time. As if things couldn't be more creepy and weird in this show.
Plus points for Doug being the next victim – his “good cop” charade was grating on my nerves already, not to mention him thinking about going for his gun when he was interrupted asking for Riley's ID in the previous episode. At least the killer had a proper reason to kill the cop, because he sounded like he was about to break open the mystery.
