”But it was clearly self-defense.”

“How so? Were they armed?”

“I'd say, yes. Muscles count too, right?”

Suppose there is an episode of the show that establishes how much Karadec relies on Morgane's wit, intelligence, and problem-solving talents, leading him to realize that he likes her a lot more than he initially thought, then it's an episode like this one. For the first couple of hours of the show, he didn't want Morgane to be around; he found her annoying, and he loved the quiet time when she wasn't around. But in this episode, he was standing in front of her house, waiting for her to get that “Eureka!” moment that solves the case, helping her helping him to solve the case. Karadec knows Morgane well enough now that he is going to wait for her, because she has become predictable when it comes to her methods. After all, the job has shown her that she can truly help other people. And isn't there a better feeling than seeing the happy face or joyful reaction of a person you just helped?

It's an episode full of character development. Morgane and Karadec investigate the murder during their off-hours and therefore spend some valuable time together, and even Gilles and Daphne find a moment to show off as detectives. I even wondered if Gilles and Daphne may be the second will-they/won't-they pairing of the show, similar to Rigsby and Van Pelt on THE MENTALIST (both shows sharing something of a DNA with their hyper-intelligent crime-solving consultant main character). After all, it would be a boring show if Morgane and Karadec were the only two people entangling themselves romantically. Heck, give Morgane's ex Ludo a new woman as well while we're at it.
