”I want a woman who is a bit normal. No danger to society.”
This episode is the French crime TV version of I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER. The episode's plot followed the 1997 film closely, with Pauline's life unraveling after the hit-and-run (similar to Julie James), and Sylvain not giving a crap, except for his car which he feared got damaged after the accident (similar to Barry), not to mention that the person they hit and left for dead turned out to be alive, going after the people who drove the car. So, yes, the writers definitely knew a certain American teen slasher film and decided to copy it – which I don't mind at all. But it does make me wonder if the show's American remake will adapt this story someday, or if they decide to forget about it because it would just be too obvious a copycat from a film, when the original French show did the copying already.
Plus points for this episode continuing where the previous one left off, with Morgane disappointed and angry that Karadec didn't go to the concert with her, and him being worried that his off-the-book investigation is going to cause trouble. Although I'm not sure why the greatest issue lies in the fact that he shot someone in the shoulder – after all, it was clearly self-defense (or, in this case, defense for another person, as that dude was choking out Morgane). But I kind of like the fact that Karadec is starting to get into trouble for his behavior, which was all about protecting Morgane. It's lazy writing that none of the characters said it this way (he was protecting Morgane from definite harm), but it's a neat plot device to have him realize for real that he is into her, and that he wouldn't mind being around her more often, even if she is annoying most of the time.
Of course, this was the perfect episode for Morgane and Ludo to get back together, because there is nothing better than a stepping stone in the form of an ex-husband lying in the way of Karadec and Morgane's ultimate happiness.
