I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER: Least You Had a Spare

Season 1, Episode 6
Date of release: October 29, 2021 (Amazon Prime)

Written by: Lana Cho
Directed by: Benjamin Semanoff

”There is nothing official we can do for 48 hours.”

“In 48 hours, she could be dead. There's a fucking killer out there that you haven't fucking caught.”

“The killer only targets reasonably attractive males.”

The police force in this show is incredibly stupid. While the irony of Courtney getting killed after she blew off her daughter on the phone, thinking it was a butt dial, the fact that nobody with a badge was concerned about the sudden disappearance of a young woman while a serial killer was on the loose is irritating me to no end. As always, cops are useless pigs.

If the ending of this episode establishes the killer or killers, and the next two episodes are not going to twist the story around to serve another unexpected shocker for the audience, I will be a little happy. I would be glad if Clara does not turn out to be a cheap plot device and red herring, and that she truly is the crazy woman she made herself out to be in the previous episode. Not to mention that she was a witness to the teens getting rid of who they thought was Alison's body, so it would make even more sense why she would go against the Gen Z killers. And if Dylan is the other mad machete swinger, it would neatly tie into the PRETTY LITTLE LIARS mystery of it all. And the most important thing: Both have a good-enough motive to be killers.

That Riley would survive the initial encounter with the killer was a nice surprise that gave this episode some tension, with Courtney searching for her and getting into the killer's trap (how convenient that Courtney's death happened to be without the direct involvement of the killer, all while my number one suspect – Dylan – was with Alison and Margot at the beach, because he already set everything up for an automated murder). It's a shame that she ended up in Clara's hands at the end, because I would have loved it even more if she had made her way to any of her friends, or the police. It would have blown the story wide open and given the remainder of the season some excitement. But Riley didn't make it to anyone, her initial survival didn't blow up the story, and Alison, Margot, and Dylan still aren't any closer to the island's greatest mystery than they were when the episode began.

The police have found another "reasonably attractive male" victim.
